Happy Birthday Elise!!!

Today is my best friend Elise’s birthday! That’s so exciting! Last night at her sister’s place, we had a tea party to celebrate. I have to say it was probably the most unique birthday celebration we have had for our birthdays. Usually we will either go out to dinner, or grab a couple drinks. A couple of times we went to “Dave and Busters” that place is a pretty fun, but I have to say Elise, and her sister put together a really cute tea party! I’ve never been to a tea party before that, but it was so fun!

We had scones! And they had placed out so many different kinds of tea.  I really enjoy tea, but some of my friends are not big fans of tea, and they actually broadened their horizons, and I think they started to like it.

Elise and her sister had set up two sets, and the sets were so beautiful. Something you would see in the movies when they show a tea party.

Most of us wore dresses, and had tea hats. It was fun to just do something out of the normal. Overall it was a very good night, and I hope Elise had as much at her birthday party as I did.

Tonight happens to be the Oscar’s, and I am routing for the movie Frozen. I thought it was such a good animated film, and it was great job for Disney! I also enjoy the fashion of the Oscar’s as well, so hopefully it is a good show.

Comment and tell me your best and worst dressed of the night!

The much needed uneventful week

With this week being the week after Valentine’s Day nothing special really happened and I am okay with that. Sometimes you need to have a week of normalcy or relaxation to calm things down. As you know from my previous blogs, I go to my grandmothers on Sunday and clean. This week we ended up cleaning on Saturday and I took my dog Jack to her house and he played with my grandmothers’ dog Jojo. He really enjoyed himself, he loves her house because she has a fence, and unlike my house we don’t have one. So, to think about things dogs have it made. They get so pampered. Which they deserve it, because they love their human family unconditionally.

Oh and to add to my embarrassing moments blog, I fell on the ice Friday night. I left the family video and walked to my car, and I was bracing myself against the car because I knew it was icy, and guess what I still fell. It was so funny, I was even having a hard time getting back up, and this nice old man asked me if I was okay. So, I had a good laugh at myself Friday night. I hope it doesn’t happen again, because I was a little sore the next day, but it was funny, and I am ready for winter to be over.

So maybe you guys had a more eventful week than I did. I would love to hear about it. So comment and let me know!

Valentine's Weekend! Feel the Love!

This past week the main event was Valentine’s Day, I have to say my day was very nice. I went to the movies with my boyfriend, and we didn’t see the typical valentine movie. We saw August: Osage County and it was actually pretty good I am usually skeptical about movies that are nominated for awards like the Oscars, because frankly award winning movies are awful. They are so boring, I do not understand how they even get nominated, but the movie I saw really showed off the actors and actresses talents.

I also received a present from edible arrangements from my best friend. It was chocolate covered strawberries, and they were very delicious. I think that is such a nice gift idea, especially because now everybody has everything, and it’s so difficult to figure out what to get people as gifts.

With this weekend of love, I spent a day with my friends from High School. We have been best friends for almost 9 years now. We decided to all get our ears pierced. It was spur of the moment fun. We went to the mall and stopped at Icing, and just pierced our ears. So fun!

Later with the girls we went to see Endless Love, which that movie didn’t get great ratings on rotten tomatoes, but I think it was a great girl’s night movie!

So, overall I had a great Valentines weekend with the people I love, my boyfriend, and my best friend from college sent me an awesome surprise, and my best friends from high school. I hope you guys had an awesome Valentine’s and I would love to hear about it! So tell me what you guys did!

Pop Culture! TV Shows that have me hooked! BLOG #4

So I am a little behind in technology! This past week I just started using Netflix, and I love it. I think it’s the greatest thing since sliced bread!

I have been watching two shows on and off, and I decided to watch Beauty and The beast from the CW and Hart of Dixie! I love these shows.

I got to tell you both of these characters are great examples for young women as well! So I can make TV educational!
First off Beauty and The Beast is a show about a female cop and a soldier that was injected with DNA change transformer thing!
Hart of Dixie is about a young doctor that moves from New York to Alabama, and you get to see the life struggles that she goes through. It makes you feel normal too.

I think that both of these shows are great examples for women, because they are both strong female characters. These roles are good for younger women to look up to. Also, I like how they don’t have their lives completely figured out.  It makes me feel better/normal. All of this pressure about having everything figured out,  at a certain age and time bracket can be stressful, so it’s nice to not be the only one figuring life out as it happens. So you can learn from TV!

That's So Embarrassing!!!

Like most people I have my fair share of embarrassing moments.  I think the best way to walk them off is by just laughing about it! If you can laugh at yourself it will make you so much happier! I am going to share some photos that may not be considered embarrassing to others but to me they’re rather embarrassing.
This is my group of friends and I acting silly, and we decided to dress as Mario Party characters. Some might laugh at this, but hey we had so much fun! we even made box carts for this too!
For some reason I can never ever find the camera with my eyes! It's so funny actually, my friends kind of jokingly make fun of me about it! Whatever I guess I was distracted by something!

Check out the link it's probably the most embarrassing moment of my life, but if you guys laugh about it, I'm okay because, who cares if somebody laughs with you, it's the best medicine!

Post #2 Acts of Kindness! Enjoy!

This post is going to be about random acts of kindness. A few months ago I was out to lunch with a friend at a simple diner. We stayed for a while; we had a delicious meal, and just discussed what was going on in our lives. We were probably eating and talking for an hour or so. It was a great time. When we went to go pay the bill, the bill had already been paid by some random man in the restaurant. Now a days, some people might call that creepy that a man noticed us and decided to pay our bill. I think it is considered a random act of kindness, they just don’t happen often so people don’t know how to react. I understand people may not have the money or resources to help others that often, but I think we should do that more often. We could try simple things like helping an elder reach an item in the grocery store, or letting somebody in when you’re driving. So, that’s my challenge this week, do something nice for somebody you don’t know. It will make them feel good, and you will feel better for helping somebody and paying it forward. Why can’t we try and help others?

My First EVER Blog Post!

Blog #1
For this blog post I will need to give some background information about myself, which I am fine with that. I think that can only help with connecting with other people.
I have been in college for quite some time, and I now feel that I am finally trying to reach a goal, and I am not just going to school to just go because most young people do. With that being said, I am young, I have my whole life ahead of me, and I am so grateful to be able to have the things that I do. Which I know others get so caught up in the all about me lifestyle; that they don’t stop and think about what they do have.
One, thing that I am so incredibly grateful for is spending time with my grandmother. Every Sunday I clean her house, and occasionally throughout the week I go and visit, just to see what’s going on. Of course this doesn’t sound like the cool thing to do, and I don’t think most college students plan on doing this on their Sundays but, I learn so much by going to see her. Sometimes when I go there we just talk about simple things, like what I did at work during the week, or what kind of deals I got at Kohl’s. Other times, we get old pictures, and we talk about our ancestry, and it’s really fascinating. My grandmother has an ancestry.com account, and the things that you find out can really be exciting.  Over Christmas, she taught me how to make great grandmas famous Swedish meatballs, and at that point I learned it’s not about what we’re doing, it’s about the time we spend with each other, and how it makes us feel. Younger people spend so much time thinking about themselves, and they don’t realize how much of a blessing it is to spend time with family, sometimes they find out too late that they should’ve spent more time with loved ones, than with their best friends or roommates going out to the bar.

So, this week I challenge you to stop thinking about yourself, and to start thinking about your family, and loved ones. Put them first for a couple hours this week. It will change your life. Also, you probably will really enjoy yourself.
